Check those boxes under the tree. Just in time for Christmas, Keurig is recalling more than 7 million of its popular MINI Plus coffee brewing machines.

“If you purchased the product as a gift, please notify the gift recipient of this important safety information,” Keurig is telling customers.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission reports Keurig has received about 200 reports of hot liquid spraying out the brewer, including 90 reports of burn-related injuries.

The recall involves units made December 2009 to July 2014.

The Keurig MINI Plus was sold across the country at major retailers, including Kmart, Kohl’s, Target, Walmart, from December 2009 through December 2014 for about $100.

The recalled brewers are model number K10 (in the past identified as model number B31) and have an identification number starting with ‘‘31’’ printed on the bottom.

Estimates suggest there are about 6.6 million of these coffee brewers in the United States and about 600,000 in Canada.

The company points out the problem triggering the recall has only been reported in approximately 0.003% of units sold.

Keurig says a free repair kit will fix the issue. While you’re waiting for the kit, Keurig suggests customers stay an arm’s length away from the brewer while it’s in action and not brew any more than two cups in “quick succession.”

Contact Keurig Green Mountain at 1-844-255-7886 to request the repair kit.
