The 1 reason why your phone is taking blurry pictures

1280x960_40922B00-JWVUVSo maybe those blurry pictures from your summer vacation or trip to the Old Port this weekend aren’t because of “user error” after all.

Apple now says the iSight camera in a crop of its iPhone 6 Plus devices “has a component that may fail causing your photos to look blurry,” according the company’s website.

Apple reports the impacted iPhone Plus devices were sold primarily from September 2014 to January 2015. (Worth nothing: that’s during the busy holiday shopping season.)

Apple isn’t saying how many units it suspects have this defective component but call it a “small percentage of iPhone 6 Plus devices.”

The iSight camera is the camera on the back of your phone; not the “selfie” camera. So if your selfies are blurry, Apple probably won’t be able to help you with that.

You can use Apple’s serial number checker to see if your iPhone 6 Plus is eligible for a free fix.

If it is, you can use these options to get the iSight camera replaced:

  • Apple Authorized Service Provider – Find one here.
  • Apple Retail Store – Make an appointment here.
  • Apple Technical Support – Contact us.

Oh, and your phone better not have a cracked screen or any other damage. “That issue will need to be resolved prior to service. In some cases, there may be a cost associated with the repair,” according to Apple’s website.
