From smoke alarms that may not work to lamps that could start a fire, the Consumer Product Safety Commission is warning that for years, Home Depot sold products after recalls were announced.
Other product hazards include burns, falls, and cuts, depending on the product, the CPSC said.
Home Depot stores continued to sell 28 different recalled products from 2012-2015, according to federal safety regulators.
The CPSC said about 2,310 recalled products are involved, including 1,300 sold by Home Depot to customers and another 1,010 sent by Home Depot to salvage or recycle companies that could have sold them to consumers.
Customers who have the recalled products are being told to stop using them immediately and to contact the company that issued the recall to either get a refund, replacement or repair.
Home Depot has Maine stores located in Bangor, South Portland, Portland, Topsham, Auburn, Ellsworth, Waterville, Rockland, Augusta, Windham, and Biddeford.
Home Depot has also posted the recall notice.
“This was 1,800 transactions out of four billion over three years. That said, we take these recalls very seriously so we self-reported the error to the CPSC and we’ve contacted many of the customers ourselves, in fact,” Stephen Holmes, Corporate Communications Director, said in an email.
All the products are now off store shelves, Holmes said.
